Simple Steaks

No recipe here – just some quick and easy steaks on the grill as a treat after a day of cleaning out the garage.

I set the Big Green Egg up for a direct cook at high (500°F+) temp, seasoned the ribeyes on both sides with some Dizzy Pig Raising The Steaks seasoning, and slapped them on the grill for about 2 minutes a side.

I almost never order steak when we eat out anymore. Even with minimal prep and seasoning like this, I can consistently turn out better steaks in the Egg than I can get in most restaurants.

  1. I 100% agree with that last sentence!!!

Try this. Requires a T-rex setup. Make a mix of 1/2 melted butter and 1/2 Cajun Garlic injectable marinade. Set the LBGE to 400* direct with spider down. Dip the steak. Sear one side 2 minutes. Dip the steak. Sear other side 2 minutes. (requires the use of gloves, LOL)

Reset the egg to raised grate. Put in a mesquite split. Dip the steak. Cook one side 2 minutes. Dip the steak. Cook the steak 2 minutes. Usually med-rare on my setup. Awesome.

    1. Thanks! I do a blackened steak something like that, but sear is on cast iron instead of doing it T-Rex style. I’ll have to give that a shot.

  2. I totally agree with your restaurant comment. I’d rather try their chicken or whatever instead of steaks. Exception in the past 5 years would be Shula’s in Arizona, they make a kick butt strip that was as good as one off my Egg. I was impressed.
